Dr. Raees Farhan Mushtaq

Dr. Farhan Mushtaq graduated from Liaquat University Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Pakistan in 1992 securing 6th position on merit. He then went on to the UK for his postgraduate studies. He completed his postgraduate training in Nephrology at Hammersmith Hospital and Charring Cross Hospital London. Dr Farhan gained his Postgraduate Diploma and Masters Degree (MSc in Renal Medicine) from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (University of London) and his MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians. He pursued his career in renal medicine and went on to pass the Renal Specialty Certificate Exam from the Royal College of Physicians UK in 2012 and was nominated for the Fellowship of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) in 2013.

Dr Mushtaq is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) in the UK with a license to practice. From 2009 to 2013 he worked as an Adult Consultant Nephrologist in Prince Sultan’s Military Medical City (PSMMC), Riyadh, one of the top-ranked tertiary care hospitals in the kingdom. His major achievement there was the setting up of a Nephrology clinic service in the primary health center, which was the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. In 2013 he moved to the United Kingdom and worked as an Adult Nephrologist at Salford Royal Hospital, the top-ranked tertiary care NHS Trust in the UK.

As a member of the Royal College of Physicians, he has 14 years of experience in teaching for the MRCP and undergraduate exams. Through the IRTA Dr. Mushtaq is involved in running in-person interactive courses for postgraduate renal trainees in Dubai who are preparing for the European Specialty Examination in Nephrology (ESENeph) and Renal Arab Board.

Recently Dr. Mushtaq moved back to Pakistan and joined South City Hospital, which is one of the top-ranked tertiary care hospitals in Karachi.

  • Diagnosis, Follow, and treatment of secondary hypertension and essential hypertension
  • Management of patients for Haemodialysis, CRRT, and its complications
  • Management of Glomerular Disease and Adult Nephrotic Syndrome
  • Management of Renal Disease in Pregnancy
  • Follow-up cases of kidney transplantation, both before and after.
