Dr Nadeem Rizvi is one of the top cardiologists in Pakistan. Aside from being highly qualified, the sheer volume of his work has earned him a reputation as one of the best interventional cardiologists. To date he has done more than 15,000 diagnostic cardiac catheterization procedures and 5,000 coronary interventions, over 100 Percutaneous Transvenous Mitral Commissurotomies, 150 peripheral interventions and 100 permanent pacemaker insertions.
He is certified in CT angiography (to visualize arterial and venous vessels throughout the body) from Johns Hopkins University Hospital, Baltimore, in Nuclear Cardiology from NICVD, in Coronary Angioplasty or the Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), a minimally invasive procedure to open up blocked coronary arteries, and the adult echocardiography from the British Society of Echocardiography. Part of his specialist training is in nuclear cardiology, electrophysiology, valvular, congenital and coronary interventions.
Dr Nadeem Rizvi has worked in the UK and in Pakistan. He was a clinical research fellow in cardiology and honorary registrar at Ealing and Hammersmith Hospitals Trusts, London. He was involved in a large research project titled, “Premature coronary arterial disease in British Asians” at Ealing Hospital. He has worked as a consultant cardiologist at Barnsley District Hospital, and he trained at the East Cheshire Hospitals Trust, Macclesfield, UK in non-invasive and invasive (pacemaker implantation and right heart studies) implantation, cardiac biopsies and interventional coronary procedures.
He is a member of the British Society of Echocardiography, a founding member of the Pakistan Society of interventional Cardiology, a member of the Pakistan Cardiac Society, a member of the Civil Aviation Medical Board and an examiner for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan. He has been the editor of the Pakistan Heart Journal’s interventional section since 2012. He has taught, lectured and been an examiner for post-graduate trainees and residents. He has supervised the non-invasive cardiac lab (ECG, ETT, Holter, Transthoracic and Trans-esophageal echocardiography).
